He secured the title last year, polishing off an incredible nine puddings in 75 minutes. But he had to look on as record breaking Andrew Taylor snatched his title from beneath his nose in this year's event.
Supporters were stunned when Andrew, from Oldham, said how he would be celebrating his record breaking feat of 15 puds in just 45 minutes - he was going to have a curry!
The White Lion Hotel on Bolton Street was packed for this year's Bury Black Pudding Eating Competition on Monday, August 9. Oldham went on to clinch the double as Susan Hughes was crowned pudding princess after winning a pudding quiz.
Andrew and Susan were representing the Spinners Tavern, Oldham.
