A GRANDMOTHER has contacted the Star in disgust after her three year old grandson became the victim of a hit and run motorist.
Sheila Corns from Clock Face says little John Corns and his 15 year old next door neighbour, Michelle Pickavance were walking along Clock Face Road on their way to the shops at about 4.45pm on Monday, July 26 but as they neared some bollards on the side of the road, a passing blue car veered towards them and hit John.
She said: "The car had apparently come out of the Kwik Save car park and the driver must have lost control. But instead of stopping and finding out if John was OK, Michelle said he just wound his window down and told her she should take him to hospital and then drove off!" Luckily, the pair managed to get home to Riding Close and John's mum Yvonne took him to Whiston Hospital where he was treated for shock and minor injuries.
Sheila added: "I am absolutely livid about it - you are supposed to stop if you are involved in an accident and to leave two young children on their own like that when one could be seriously injured is just inexcusable. I hope he is proud of himself."
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: "The law states that anyone involved in a traffic accident should stay at the scene and report the matter to the police."
