IN AN excellent start to the new season, Padiham FC remain unbeaten after a three-match opening week. The Storks built on an excellent opening 3-1 away win at Carnforth with a 7-0 preliminary round Hospital Cup win over Borrowdale United FC. Then, they drew 1-1 away to Thornton Cleveleys in the West Lancashire Football League.
Against Borrowdale, only a Graham Howarth first half goal separated the sides at half time. A further six goals came through McCluskey (two), Hargreaves (two), Fletcher and an own goal.
Against Thornton, Paul Hargreaves scored in the 30th-minute to match Thornton's 25th-minute opener.
Padiham Reserves went out of the Hospital Cup, losing a penalty shoot-out 3-1against Todmorden United.
