CYCLING enthusiast John Bidwell believes his new mode of transport is just what the doctor ordered.
The GP from Darwen Health Centre is whizzing around town on a state-of-the-art trike which features a bright yellow flag.
He wears biker's overalls and instead of a black medical bag, his gear is safely tucked away in special storage pockets.
"I have been turning a few heads and getting heckled on the road" explained John, 48, of Jack's Key Drive, Darwen, who has cycled for more than 20 years and also has a motorbike.
"The trike is perfect for getting to and from work and also for my house calls when the weather is fine. It's very economical, environmentally friendly and a great way to exercise. I'm hoping to set an example to my patients. You never know, it may catch on!"
