A BURNLEY factory was evacuated when an electrical problem caused a fire in a compressor.
Firefighters from Burnley, Nelson, Colne and Padiham arrived at Hycrome, on Heasandford Industrial Estate, yesterday to find the compressor room well alight.
Leading firefighter Chris Haworth said: "An electrician had been repairing the high pressure air compressor, but left at 11.30am to fetch a part.
"Fire broke out because of some sort of electrical problem and when we got there flames were coming through a ventilation unit on the outside wall. "
The chrome plating factory was running again within three hours, after the power circuits to the room had been isolated. One of the directors, David Ellis, said a replacement compressor was hired and the cost of the fire would be less than £10,000.
Firefighters are still investigating the cause.
