A 35-YARD strike direct from a free kick by Phil Malley three minutes from time, secured Padiham FC all three points from their West Lancashire Football League away fixture against Hesketh Bank FC and ended a frustrating afternoon for the Storks who had previously failed to capitalise on their possession and chances.
Trailing 1-0 to a first half 29th-minute Hesketh goal, Padiham missed numerous second half chances as they tried to recover and only escaped going 2-0 behind when their keeper Bobby Harris saved a 66th-minute penalty and the follow up shot as well.
In the 86th minute however, Padiham eventually drew level when Anthony McCluskey headed in a Jason Tansey cross and then a minute later Malley's blockbuster ensured Padiham's victory.
Padiham Reserves won 3-0 away to Kelbrook FC in a friendly, and Padiham A drew 1-1 with Blackburn St Matthew's in another friendly.
