A CHEMICAL spillage happened at another East Lancashire river.

The discharge of water containing caustic soda was the fourth in a string of spillages by the North West Water Authority in the area.

The authority confirmed there had been a minor discharge of "treated water" into a tributary of the River Brun at Burnley during maintenance work.
