VETERAN road man Dave Hargreaves of Blackburn and the North Lancashire Road Club, followed up a third place in 1997 and a second place in 1998 with a straight-out win in this year's version of the Cheshire Challenge Road Race on Sunday.
Held over four laps of an 11-mile circuit near Congleton, the race was packed with action from the start but on the final lap Dave broke away with Stuart Ackroyd of Yorkshire and Gordon Walters from the Midlands, but at the chequered flag, the other two could not respond and the Blackburn rider was a clear winner.
