THIS weekend sees the V99 Festival in Staffordshire where Mel C performs solo on stage for the first time ever, making her the star attraction.
Last year it was Robbie Williams, if you remember. Mel says she is hoping to have the same effect with her little 'Bag of Tricks'.
She's playing alongside Manic Street Preachers, Suede and The Stereophonics.
Talking of big live music events, don't miss Radio City's Party At The Pier on Monday August 30. More details to come next week.
Now for the Starbeat Record Review
The Cartoons - Aisy Waisy The band that almost appeared at the St Helens Show. This is the third single from their gold selling Toonage album. Big one for the kids. That means most dads will love it.
Martine McCutcheon - I've Got You What a difficult job following Perfect Moment. All the TV and radio hype - the documentary as well. Well I think it will do just as well. A strong chorus and loads of radio play is all the ingredients needed for a hit single, and this has them both.
Another Level - Summertime
Look out for these boys appearing at Radio City's Party At The Pier. This their new single sounds brilliant in the sunshine - but only in the sunshine and unfortunately we don't get a great deal of it in this country. Good luck to the boys and see you on Monday August 30.
