THE dramatic Egyptian Balcony exhibition is one of the Harris Museum and Art Gallery's lesser known treasures.
The narrow balcony, which runs around the base of the lantern, houses John Somerscales' murals, recreating large atmospheric views of Egypt.
Examples of Egyptian sculpture and scenes from ancient wall paintings are illustrated in decorative panels between the murals.
The breathtaking exhibition is only open on the first and third Tuesday of each month, so booking is essential. An official tour runs from 2pm on each of these days.
The Egyptian Balcony is also open to the public on Heritage Open Days and at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, September 11.
Places are limited, so call the museum office on 01772 258248 now for the next tour, on Tuesday, September 3.
