PRESTON-based Booths supermarket is helping a British expedition to the Himalayas march on their stomachs.
The supermarket is sponsoring the six-man team's trip through unexplored mountains, just north of the Himalayas, on August 27.
Team co-ordinator and college lecturer Phil Bartlett, which will lead the seven-week expedition, has made a special trip to the Booths store in Millbrook Way, Penwortham, to collect the 230 kilos of provisions.
On hand to help load the provisions on board was Booths chairman Edwin Booth, who Phil first approached regarding supplies for the trip.
Booths had previously supplied Phil and his climbing colleagues with food for a 1998 quest to Greenland - one of 80 expeditions they have completed.
Phil said: "If you consider that our energy input is around 4,000 calories per person per day for 48 days, that's a lot of food. So not only are Booths helping us financially but we are certain of having a top class diet."
