A CAMPAIGN has been launched to stop a popular postie from being moved off a Leyland estate and on to a new round.
More than 100 residents have signed a petition in a Wade Hall newsagents which calls for the return of postman Bryce McKinnon, who has worked the estate round for more than four years.
But under a reorganisation of the rounds in the Leyland area, Bryce has been moved on to a new patch - and locals aren't happy.
The petition, set up by staff in Leadbetter newsagents in Royal Avenue, has attracted a huge response, and now locals are hoping their action will mean the return of their favourite mail man.
Karen Walmsley, who works at the shop, said: "The petition has certainly been a talking point. Bryce was very popular and was an excellent postman, helping us whenever he could. We were all disappointed when he was moved on.
"He was a valued member of our community."
She added: "Since we put the petition out, lots have people have asked what it is about and as soon as they know, they are more than happy to sign to it.
"It was all set up by a member of staff here and hopefully it will do some good."
A Royal Mail spokesman said: "It is always great to hear that members of our staff are being praised and we are delighted our customers are so pleased with the service they are receiving.
"Bryce himself was very touched to hear what lengths people are going to to make sure he stays on the round.
"But he has been moved to a different duty under a reorganisation of the rounds in Leyland.
"Customers have nothing to worry about because we train all our staff to the same standard and they should experience no disruption in their mail delivery service."
