MR R Holden (Letters) suggested that if foxhunting was banned, our pets would be put at risk from foxes coming in from rural areas to pick off town animals.
I, along with thousands of others, have never seen a fox in the flesh. It comes as a surprise to find they pose such a threat.
Mr Holden says foxes are cleverest of all animals, but, surely, not as clever or intelligent as man. If the Government wanted to get rid of the fox menace, it could do so.
But to make it a sport (I use the word loosely) and ride out with a pack of hounds, corner it, then watch or enthuse at it being ripped to pieces. Never!
K SOWERBUTTS (Mr), Southwood Drive, Baxenden.
