BLACKPOOL'S hopes of lifting the Northern League Vaux Bitter Cup came to an end making 138-7 at Morecambe's Woodhill Lane on Sunday (August 15).
Batting first, Blackpool could only manage a modest total in 40 overs and Morecambe replied with 140-2 with eight overs and five balls to spare.
Blackpool got off to a reasonable start and Chris Cornall was dropped off the second ball of the innings. But soon after he went for 13 trapped lbw by off spinner John Eccles.
The same bowler then accounted for Robin Bracewell for 18.
Gavin Armstrong top scored with 33 and was seventh out with the total at 95.
But it the total of 138-7 was never going to be enough.
Apart from one early success, Hansson caught behind off Sharp for five, Blackpool never looked like making inroads into the Morecambe batting.
Mark Woodhead and South African professional Ashwell Prince put the bowlers to the sword and savaged 124 runs in 25 overs before big-hitting Phil Thornton scored the winning runs.
