THE Kenyon Residents' Group would like to reply to letters from J Fallon and J Sumner which appeared in a recent Journal.
Mr Sumner's disparaging remarks were cheap shots and childish attacks. Is that the best you can do in a serious debate on transport?
Park and ride is not a 'railway ideal' when you are clearing several acres of greenbelt and wildlife habitat to build it.
The Kenyon Residents' Group is campaigning against the Kenyon Junction proposal because it would be an unwelcome blot on the landscape, and will open the door for further development such as roads and housing.
J Fallon is not merely a Wilton Lane resident but a landowner who will make a pretty penny from selling his land to the developer.
If the Kenyon proposal goes ahead it will close all hopes of a real station for Leigh for ever, ie one in Leigh rather than a few miles away.
According to Warrington Borough Council's planner the number of car parking spaces is still to be decided, but the total area is 4.56 acres.
We are told because it is an outline planning application that the number of spaces could be 260 minimum, maximum 540. We are not trying to mislead anyone.
Hasn't Mr Sumner heard of John Prescott's Transport Plan? Are you going to write to him and tell him he is eccentric and to get back to Yorkshire?
N Seddon,
Kenyon Lane Residents
