SUTTON lifted the Lever Cup for the first time since 1972 when they won at St Asaph on Sunday.
Having won the toss, skipper Andy Brogan elected to bat first. Sutton finished their first 20 overs with a total of 142-3. SS Das 75, Mike Rimmer 31 and Joe Harvey 25 not out starring.
Sutton then took the field and limited a strong St Asaph line up to 85-9 thanks to some excellent bowling by Sean Anders, 2-13, and Keiron Barr 2-10. Andy Pierce hit 40 for the North Wales side.
In the second innings Sutton struggled to 79 all out with Ian Moore taking 6-5 for St Asaph, leaving Sutton with a 157-run advantage.
The early loss of three wickets including the Australian professional proved too much for St Asaph. Brilliant fielding by Brogan and Harvey and bowling figures of 4-11 by SS Das limited St Asaph to 82 all out ensuring a memorable Sutton victory by 54 runs.
Sutton are now faced with six remaining league games and are currently in third position 25 points behind league leaders Caldy.
Saturday's game was washed out.
