THE week's poor weather reduced the St Helens Rounders League programme to just three matches.

And in only the second draw of the season, United Gladiators salvaged a point and set about reducing the gap between themselves and the rest of the First Division. Though playing just for pride, they nevertheless battled hard and with several newcomers made the in-form Bobbies Lane work hard for their point

. Kate Sheffield, Samantha McNulty and Kathryn Milligan, all schoolgirls, proved their worth with Kate having the daunting task of bowling.

Karen Sykes, in her first game this season gave a good performance on first post a key fielding position.

Cathy McNulty - Samantha's mum - took two great catches, putting out Bobbies Lane's star player Linda Graham in both innings.

Along with Linda, Bobbies Lanes two bright sparks - Stephanie and Susan - had their usual good games and both sides must be pleased to see the number of youngsters who are coming into league rounders.
