ST HELENS College student Clare Brownbill has been called up to the England Women's Rugby Union Development Squad.

And she'll be travelling with the team to Amsterdam laster this month.

The great achievement came after Clare's right-wing skills were spotted during her team's final game of the season when Liverpool St Helens beat Southern side Crawley 73-nil.

This massive win gave LSH third spot in the National Second Division, only just finishing behind, London teams, Blackheath and Saracens.

Student Clare is now working hard, during her summer holidays, to raise the £350 she needs to go on the development tour. Clare, along with the team, would be very grateful for any local sponsorship or contributions anybody would like to provide towards travel costs for the tour and the coming season.

If you feel you can help Clare with her travel costs please give her a ring on 01744 636436.

If any other future England stars would like to play the game the team are always on the lookout for new players. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, or have never touched a rugby ball in your life, everybody is made welcome .

If you want to give it a go training takes place on Wednesday at the LSH ground on Moss Lane.

Under 16's training is between 6.30 and 7.30pm.

Seniors training is between 7.30 and 9pm.

If you would like to sponsor the team or would like to join please ring Sharon Young on 0151 280 9835 or Andrea Marchant on 0161 226 4410.
