LYNX just cannot get the win they deserve at the moment, losing to Leigh Centurions 32-20.
Having run top Premiership sides Featherstone and Widnes close in recent weeks, this time it was Leigh who got more than they bargained for.
The visitors held Leigh scoreless for 25 minutes at Hilton Park, and then took a shock lead when Neil Alexander followed up his penalty by tearing through the defence for a wonderful try.
But Leigh struck back twice to lead by half-time, with Anthony Murray and Ken Kerr going over the Lynx try line.
A couple of Paul Wingfield conversions made the visitors' task that much harder.
Despite going further behind to a Wingfield penalty just after the break, Lynx roared back in the second half and drew level with the try of the match.
Darren Abram and Neil Flanagan combined to send in Dave Jones to score at the end of a thrilling move which had started in the Lynx half.
Alexander converted for 14-14.
Leigh then raced away with tries from Cruickshank and Purtill, but Murray gave Lynx hope with a score of his own. The visitors kept pressing but were finally killed off when Purtill went over for his second with virtually the last move of the match.
