HAG Fold's Dorset Road Centre will be at the heart of the community with two days of celebrations next week.

And Atherton residents will have the chance to plan their estate of the future, as well as enjoying fun events.

The centre's management committee won a grant from Opportunities for Excellence for themselves and the nearby Shakerley Community Centres with the idea of emphasising the role they play in their areas.

On Monday (August 23) at 10am there will be the first of a number of community mapping events when residents will have the chance to have their say on what they want for their area.

The event ends on Tuesday at 7pm with a crime management evening, hosted by the Risk Management Group, when the council's chief executive, Stephen Jones, will present the finding of the April survey.

In between there will be glass painting, glass leading, problem solving, aromatherapy, line dancing, sequence dancing, and prize bingo.

For younger members there will be the youth media bus, sex talkers, archery and a bouncy castle.

There is also a creche, and many of the sessions are free.

For further information ring Cllr Susan Loudon on 01942 873175 or the community centre on 884184.
