A NEW crusade to give cancer patients more say over their treatment and care is being supported by MP David Chaytor.
The "A Voice for Life" campaign, by Macmillan Cancer Relief, follows research by the charity which says that too often patients lack information to help them come to terms with a cancer diagnosis and take decisions about their treatment.
Macmillan has produced a Cancer Guide to give patients advice including questions to ask and organisations to contact.
"Macmillan's findings show that some doctors still devote less than five minutes to telling someone they have cancer," said the MP for Bury North.
"It's not surprising that patients feel devastated and out of control. They need more of a voice in their treatment, and this is what this campaign hopes to give them."
Anyone who wants to know about the campaign or receive a copy of the guide leaflet should ring the charity on 0845 601 6161.
