ANOTHER old solider has turned to the Star in a bid to track down a former comrade.
Former Royal Engineer John McNally (81) from Hull, is trying to track down old chum Jim Hull from St Helens, who served with him in the Second World War.
The duo both joined up in September, 1939 and last saw each other in January, 1946 when they were demobbed.
John, recalls: "I know Jim hailed from St Helens. He was a wonderful and dedicated track runner, and I was an amateur boxer. He also spoke about the Vine Tavern rugby team and sport was our usual subject.
"I presume Jim would be about the same age as me. He was a great character and a pleasure to have known.
"We went to France in October, 1939 and returned to England - one of the last to disembark - two weeks after Dunkirk."
