A SHOCKED couple have told how their nightmare stay in a hotel dubbed "Fawlty Towers" ended when they were thrown on to the streets with more than 20 other guests in the middle of the night.
Julie Parsons, 38, and Patrick Kelly, 37, hoped for a peaceful, week-long sunshine stay in Larnaca, Cyprus.
But they claim the £250 holiday quickly turned into a nightmare.
The couple, who live in Morecambe Road, Highercroft, Blackburn say the manager went out of control when they got together to complain.
Julie and Patrick have since spoken to a lawyer and are planning to sue Golden Sun Holidays, the firm which organised the break
Patrick, a builder, and Julie said they hit problems when they started to unpack and found a used condom in a drawer of one of the cupboards.
They said when they complained, the manager of the three star hotel told them he had seen far worse on the streets of London.
Other grumbles from the 25-strong party of British tourists at the Hotel Sveltos included:
Inedible food. When they complained they said they were told the chef was a priest who was just helping out.
A lack of decent facilities.
Unwanted sexual advances from a member of staff, who phoned Julie in her hotel room in the middle of the night.
An abusive manager, who swore at customers and assaulted staff.
Julie said: "We took to calling the hotel Fawlty Towers and the manager Basil but it was much worse than that."
Patrick added: "We went away for some peace and quiet and it was a nightmare.
"The holiday rep didn't know where to put us and we were moved about all over the place. We ended up having breakfast in one hotel, a shower in a second place and dinner in a third.
"We were so depressed we never even bothered taking on photographs while we were on holiday."
When the Lancashire Evening Telegraph contacted the Hotel Sveltos and explained the complaint a member of staff put the phone down.
Clive Bamfield, customer services manager for Golden Sun Holidays, said: "We are always concerned to hear that customers are unhappy with their holiday.
"As soon as we receive a direct complaint we can deal with it."
