EAST Lancashire ice stars will be skating for national honours in the fourth round of the Skate Nescafe National Series at Blackburn Ice Arena on Monday.
The event, a qualifying round for the British Championships - Dundonald International Ice Bowl, Northern Ireland, November 8-13 - will showcase some of the UK's best ice dance skaters, including the British Dance Champions Charlotte Clements and Gary Shortland from Slough.
Local Blackburn pairing Jonathon O'Dougherty, 20, of Queens Road and Pamela O'Connor, 19, of Ranklin Road - fifth in the British Championships - will be hoping for a podium place. Members of the National Ice Skating Association's Lottery-funded World Class Performance Programme, the pair have been selected to represent the UK in the Nebel Horn Trophy, Obertsdorf, Germany. They will fly out on September 30.
Other local skaters competing on Monday include primary dance couple Chloe Millard and David Davies and junior couple Lucy Warman and Craig Ash.
