MODEL ship maker Peter Coughlin went to check out a new show in the Lake District and ended up sailing off with a prestigious cup.
He won the coveted Ambleside Craft Society Cup for having the best stand in the model exhibition during the three-day Ambleside in Bloom Show.
"I didn't even realise there would be a competition, so I was really surprised to win," explained Peter, of Lynwood Avenue, Darwen, who was inspired to take up ship modelling after a trip to see the SS Manxman in Preston Dock.
"I took three model ships, The Cutty Sark, The Endeavour and The Titanic. There were about 30 other stands and the show was very impressive, so I'm pleased to have done so well.
"I got a lovely, cup rosette and certificate."
