THE official opening of the Jimmy McIlroy Stand at Turf Moor has been delayed until the Clarets legend has recovered from recent surgery.
McIlroy is on the mend but is unable to attend Saturday's home game against another of his former clubs, Stoke City, when the East Stand re-named in his honour was due to be officially opened.
However, the presentation of his Football League Legend medal will go ahead as planned at his request.
McIlroy's son Paul will receive the award on his father's behalf from Football League representative Jack Taylor, the 1974 World Cup referee, during the half-time interval of Saturday's game.
