BURNLEY may have to brace themselves for the arrival of Ian Wright mark-two at Turf Moor tonight.
Shaun Wright-Phillips is following in the footsteps of his sharp-shooting father, whose goalscoring record at Arsenal made him a Highbury legend.
Wright's 17-year-old son has launched his promising career at Maine Road after Nottingham Forest let him go last year and Wright-Phillips is expected to be named in Joe Royle's squad for tonight's Worthington Cup first-round, second-leg clash.
Wright junior bagged 24 goals last season to prove himself a chip off the old block and after making a pre-season first-team appearance his official debut could come against the Clarets. With City 5-0 up from the first leg a fortnight ago, Royle has the perfect opportunity to utilise his squad strength.
And with a Bank Holiday double-header coming up against Bolton and Nottingham Forest, Royle will have half-an-eye on those two games when naming his side to take on Burnley.
Strikers Shaun Goater and Paul Dickov are set to be rested which will allow Gareth Taylor and Danny Allsopp the chance to play up front, with Wright-Phillips on the bench.
And powerhouse central defender Andy Morrison, who misses the game at Bolton due to suspension, is expected to make way for former Oldham and Leeds defender Richard Jobson.
Royle also has Tony Vaughan to play in the centre of the defence if he opts to rest Gerard Wiekens, while he could hand midfield starts to Ian Bishop, Jamie Pollock, Michael Brown or Gary Mason if the likes of Jeff Whitley or Kevin Horlock are given a breather after Saturday's 6-0 thumping of 10-man Sheffield United.
