WORRIES over traffic dangers at two proposed developments in Rossendale Road, Burnley, are to be investigated.
Councillors are to visit the sites after council leader Stuart Caddy, speaking as a member of the public, raised both issues at the development control and highways sub-committee.
One application is to build 40 two-storey homes and to fell seven trees on land off Rossendale Road and Accrington Road.
The other is an outline application for change of use of the former Griffin pub into a hair and beauty centre and the building of nine bungalows on the former bowling green.
Coun Caddy claimed access to the 40-house development off Rossendale Road would be dangerous.
There had been three previous appeals on Rossendale Road and the council had been successful in all of them. Only on Tuesday someone had been knocked down in Rossendale Road, he added.
Planning officer David Ellis said Lancashire County Council had no objection to access from Rossendale Road.
Coun Caddy said the other application was absolutely fantastic but in the wrong place. He said the pub was an eyesore and a danger to children.
He and the other ward councillors have objected to the plan on highway and residential amenity grounds.
