COURAGEOUS Steven Tomlinson from Preston won Blackburn's Europrint two-mile fun run, and afterwards revealed that he was awaiting results from a heart test.
Fifteen-year-old Steven, who runs for the Lancashire Cross Country team, had experienced chest pains and with a family history of heart disease, has had the tests as a precaution.
Lisa Richardson, 15, returned to home territory after her successful campaign in the English Fell Championships in which she was runner-up in the Under-16s. At Blackburn, she was the winning girl finishing third overall.
Twelve-year-old Robert Greenwood of Hyndburn AC was second finisher. He prefers cross country to track and may be tempted to try fell running next year.
Youngest entrants were five-year-olds Adam Stott and Jack Kemp, and six-year-old William Fox.
The oldest competitor was Maureen Roberts of Darwen Dashers who ran the course with her dog Susie.
For results of the Europrint Blackburn Road Runners 10k senior race, see ATHLETICS ROUND-UP WITH ANDY McALLISTER tomorrow.
