CHILDREN from Blackburn and Darwen who spent their summer holidays at school will be given awards at a special ceremony tomorrow.
Summer literacy and numeracy schools were set up at Our Lady and St John RC High School and Queen's Park High School.
Activities included outdoor events such as canoeing in the River Wyre, in West Lancashire.
The summer schools were set up both to cater for pupils who need extra help with basic numeracy and literacy and for gifted youngsters.
Queen's Park head teacher Vicki Devonport, said: "I am pleased with the response from the pupils. They took part in a wide range of challenging activities and have produced work of an outstanding standard and quality.
"I am sure they will have gained from the experience of a two-week programme."
Pupils who attended both the literacy school and the gifted and talented programmes will receive their awards of achievement on Friday and parents and visitors will have the opportunity to see the work they have produced.
The celebration afternoon takes place between 2pm and 3.15pm at Queen's Park High School, Shadsworth Road, Blackburn.
