I THINK the Labour leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council is wrong to criticise Mr Jack Straw for his remarks on travellers.
He should know of all the trouble we have had over the years in Blackburn when they camp on any piece of land.
They leave behind them piles of rubbish and cause a general nuisance in the town.
The council spends thousands of pounds putting mounds of earth around these open sites, and police then spend valuable time trying to move travellers on.
I was glad to see your comment (LET, August 20) standing up for Mr Straw. He is right to call a spade a spade and he will not be gagged by political correctness.
I only wish some of our elected councillors would do the same instead of thinking about the votes at the next election.
