A TEAM of daredevil women from The Body Shop in Burnley, are hoping to prove that females are not the weaker sex when they take part in the Krypton Factor Challenge 1999.

Assistant manager Clare Pickering, from Burnley, will be joined by fellow employees Jenny Turner and Sandra Holmes, both from Burnley and Jane Wilkinson, of Accrington, who works for the Blackburn branch of The Body Shop.

They are already in training for the event, which will take place on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday, at Holcombe Brook Army Camp, Bury and will be raising money for the North West's Christie Hospital and its £25million Christie's Against Cancer appeal.

Clare said: "We first raised money for The Christie by participating in the 'Jeans for Genes' day. When we heard about the Krypton Factor Challenge we all jumped at the opportunity to take part - especially because we all used to watch the programme when we were little."

The team of four is on target to raise the £250 needed to enter the challenge, £100 of which will be used to cover the costs of the event, with the remainder and any additional sponsorship going straight to the appeal.
