CONTROVERSY reigned at the North West Lancashire Women's Cricket League Cup Final between Fulwood and Broughton Ladies' Cricket Club against Littleborough at Bamford.
F&B finished the game one run behind Littleborough's impressive score - but only after having two runs deducted for short running.
After winning the toss, F&B put Littleborough into bat, and they soon reached 167-9 off their allotted 36 overs, a target which F&B were too find insurmountable.
Unfortunately, the Preston side slumped soon after they took to the crease, gaining just two runs for two wickets.
Brave batting performances by Tracie Clugston (67) and Karen Stephen (27) put F&B back in control, leaving them needing just 37 from the remaining 12 overs.
However, Lady Luck just wasn't around and persistent bowling from Littleborough soon wore the remaining batting order down, with only Lisa Boardman putting up any resistance.
The final wicket fell with F&B just one run behind Littleborough's total, with an over and a half in hand. They had two runs deducted for short running.
