THERE will be a familiar name in the Norwich line-up at Carrow Road tomorrow - Dalglish!

And former Newcastle striker Paul will be keen to help the Canaries claim their first win of the season against dad Kenny's old club.

Signed by Norwich boss Bruce Rioch for £300,000 in summer, following a successful loan spell, the 22-year-old former Scottish under-21 striker found his place in the side ensured by a crop of injuries.

But, even though he has scored Norwich's only goal so far, it has been tough to make an impact.

Player performance analysts Opta, the official statisticians to the Nationwide Football League, have studied every touch Dalglish has made in the three First Division games so far.

And his strengths are highlighted by the fact that he has an excellent pass-completion rate of 75 per cent.

Apart from his opening-day goal against West Brom, he has had only one other shot on target and four more which have missed. But Dalglish is a versatile player and is equally at home on the right flank, where he played in midweek against Cheltenham.

A quarter of his crosses have been successfully delivered and he has attempted 15 dribbles and runs, at a success rate of 47 per cent. Dalglish junior has a lightweight frame and has won only 14 per cent of his challenges so far.

But he is determined to grab the chance to prove his worth.

And, with the likes of Craig Bellamy and Darren Eadie absent from the Canaries attacking forces because of long-term injury problems, it has been offered to him.

The pressure to succeed increased this week with the news that Eadie is finally on his way back after four knee operations in 10 months.

The talented forward has been given the all clear from top specialist David Dandy.

"For him to say the knee doesn't need further surgery is really great," said Eadie.

"The main thing now is to get the leg built up again. I haven't set myself a specific date for a return, just when it feels right."

Dalglish, meanwhile, will be aiming to make it doubly difficult for Eadie to get back in the side by the time he is fit.

The loss of Bellamy and Eadie has hit Norwich hard and they were further affected when skipper Matt Jackson, the former Everton defender, was ruled out long term as well.

But there's not much that Rioch can tell his counterpart Brian Kidd about long-term injuries.
