OUTLINE plans for a massive building project at the Royal Preston Hospital are due to go before Preston Borough Council today (Thursday).
Included in the plans is a two or three storey maternity ward, a single storey education and training centre, a single storey elderly unit and six other extensions which will enable the smooth transfer of services from the soon to close Sharoe Green Hospital to the larger site.
The plans are currently at a very early stage, and will be discussed in more depth at a meeting of the Preston Acute Hospitals NHS Trust next week. They could be subject to future changes.
Planning committee members on Preston Borough Council have been advised to defer a decision on approving the plans until more details of parking provision are revealed.
The Trust is expected to comment on the plans next week.
