A SCHEME to renew Preston's most dilapidated water mains will be completed by the end of September.
The £1.5 million project, which was started in July, will improve the quality of water for around 3,000 people living in the Deepdale and North Road areas of the town.
More than 17km of old iron mains are being replaced in the Preston housing district, as part of the company's £525 million investment in the North West.
To inform residents about how the work will help improve their water supply, North West Water's mobile centre will be at the B&Q car park, Brookfield Street, next Wednesday, September 1.
The specially-converted trailer has a video presentation, exhibitions and interactive multimedia display which tell the story of water mains through the ages.
Water company staff will be available from 10am to 5pm, to provide details of the scheme and answer any questions from locals.
Bob Armstrong, North West Water's deputy managing director, said: "Residents will be able to ask questions about the project, such as how and why we are investing so much money in their area.
"They will also want to know what benefits our customers will gain from the improvements taking place beneath their streets."
