BLONDES definitely had more fun on a special night out at London's trendy restaurant The Ivy.

And blonde single mum Sharon Balmer, 27, from Preston, was there to mingled with fair-haired stars of the small screen.

The evening was part of an all-expenses paid luxury trip to London, which Sharon won in the Nice 'n' Easy Britain Goes Blonde competition.

She beat off fierce competition from hundreds of applicants from all over the UK, by writing in.

Competition organisers Clairol and Best magazine felt that Sharon deserved a blonde makeover as she is a disabled single mum with arthritis of the joints. Not only does she cope with her own disabilities, but she also cares for her eight-month-old daughter who sufferers from cerebral palsy.

Her prize was a top-to-toe makeover at Clairol's magnificent headquarters and a celebration dinner at The Ivy with celebrities including Michelle Collins, pictured (right) with Sharon, Penny Smith of GMTV, and Natalie Walter of hit ITV series Babes in the Wood.

The fair-haired stars were voted the nation's best-loved blonde celebrities by Best readers, as part of the competition.

When she saw her new image, Sharon said: "What a fantastic experience - I haven't felt so great in years! I love my new blonde look and will definitely be using Nice 'n' Easy again."
