A TEENAGE fishing fanatic - who is recovering from chemotherapy treatment for leukaemia - was devastated when heartless thieves stole his fishing tackle.
But now he's smiling again thanks to the goldenhearted bunch down at a local taxi firm.
Cabbies with Critchley's Taxis of Waterdale Place, Sutton, were outraged when they heard of 16-year-old Philip Gordon's ordeal at the hands of the thieves, who set on him while he was fishing with a friend.
The thugs dragged the St Cuthbert's student to some wasteland before cruelly snatching his equipment from him. He was unhurt but left extremely shaken by the ordeal.
However, thanks to the Critchleys crew, who raised almost £700 for him, they have been able to replace most of the equipment and Philip, from Sutton Leach, who is currently getting over his chemotherapy, is hoping it won't be long before he can use it again.
