PILKINGTON Spartans this week found out who their opponents in the Emily Collins Cup, will be.
For Sutton CC beat Bobbies Lane to secure their final place
. Sutton, who have recently hit a purple patch, gave an exciting all-round team performance. Sian Heaton, Chris Hooley and Sam Humphreys worked well together in the middle, with Sian's sister Nina also called into the team at the last minute.
Like Sian, Nina also fielded well. Youngster Donna Melling covered second post along with Lynn Drought, to keep Bobbies Lane's half-rounders to a minimum.
Anna McKenna took some outstanding catches with a super turn of pace, and the reliable Andrea Johnson and Julie Derbyshire hit as well as ever.
Bobbies Lane's Jenny Winstanley was also in excellent hitting form, but was unable to score full rounders with all her strikes. Bobbies Lane, however, have secured runner-up spot in the Second Division after Haydock went down to Spartans by 6-2. The First Division runners-up spot is still undecided after TNT lost to Windle. If TNT defeat UG next week, then a play-off would be necessary with Burtonwood.
