ECCLESTON second team continued their good form with an impressive display against Shell Park.

Eccleston had first use of the wicket and lost four wickets with just 44 runs on the board.

But then har- hitting Ashton (20) and an impressive knock by Gornall (35) got the run rate going. When the partnership was broken Reed (20) and Holden (18) contributed well to take Eccleston at the close on 146-9 off their 45 overs. Howden was pick of the bowlers with 4-42.

When Shell batted they struggled against some good tight bowling by Gee and Holden.

And when youngster Burrows and Lynan where brought into the attack and immediately made an impact and ripped through the top order. Cross then took a couple of wickets. Eccleston should have been home and dry with the visitors on 52-8, but Shell continued to fight to finish on 88 all out. Eccleston bowlers finished with Lynan 4-9 off 8 overs, Burrows 2-19 and Cross 2-19.

Eccleston first team were not so fortunate. Shell Park had first use of the wicket putting a final score on the board of 195.

Then it was Ecclestons turn to bat with Johnson (29), Mathers (17) and Parry (30 not out) who all contributed well, but this was not good enough with the final score on the board being 142 all out. Creek was pick of the bowlers with 2-47.
