LANCASTER had an easy win against Tyldesley in this Northern Counties League fixture which proved to be a useful training exercise for counter attacking and shooting.

Even as the first goal went in after fifty seconds Lancaster had a number of spare men over.

The prolific Colin Burgess, clearly a class above the opposition, led the scoring with nine goals and looked dangerous every time he was in possession of the ball.

The goals came freely after the first minute and by the end of the quarter the score was seven to nil. At half time the scoring rate had slowed and Tyldesley had notched three to ensure there was not a whitewash. However the home side still led by 12 to 3. After this lapse defensive display Lancaster tightened up their defence and as a result Baker kept a clean sheet in goal during the final two quarters while Lancaster steadily increased the scoreline with some useful play on his debut from youngster Russell Gill and a number of positive attacking moves from Stephen Knowles.
