HAYDOCK strolled tod an easy win over Dalton at Lyme Park on Saturday.
Batting first, the Dalton batsmen were in trouble from the start as Haydock's opening bowlers Adrian Barr and Andrew Bentham went through the Dalton order like a hot knife through butter.
Barrs took a fine 6-15 and Benthamweighed in with 4/8 as Dalton were all out for just 63 runs.
In reply the Haydock batsmen showed their superiority with a class display. Craig Gardiner was once again amongst the runs as he turned in another good performance with the bat. Runs came with ease for Craig as he showed disdain for the bowling on his way to an unbeaten 40. Rob Burke could not have wished for an easier day he backed up Craig well with an unbeaten 15 as Haydock cruised to victory making 64 without loss.
The Seconds were also on top form as they travelled to Dalton but for the second week running they were frustrated at the end as the Dalton batsmen held on for the draw.
Batting first the Haydock batsmen started well as Chris Carlisle having recovered from injury showed that he was keen to impress. He showed his class once again as he sent the ball to all parts of the ground with some fine strokes on his way to a fine 68. Steve Plant continued his good form with the bat, he was the perfect foil for Carlisle producing shots on both sides of the wicket as he made a fine 37, sharing a partnership worth 96 with Carlisle.
Paul Roberts (16 not out) and Tony Duncan (10 not out) were there at the end as Haydock declared on 175-8.
The Dalton batsmen started steadily but it was not long before wickets started to tumble.
Nick Tinsley finished with 4-43 in a fine spell and put Haydock in a good position. Steve Plant as ever was in the action with 2-18 and Paul Roberts claimed 2-17.
However, stubborn resistance from the Dalton tail meant Haydock had to settle for the draw as Dalton finished on 121-9.
