IS it not time something was done about Talbot Road bus station in Blackpool?

Many say it is run-down and unclean, one of the worst in the country, a fatality waiting to happen.

Can I please submit the following suggestions for a new, improved and more efficient travel interchange at the existing site.

Buses, coaches and customers should be segregated, with bus lanes and customer waiting areas with improved facilities.

There should be no vehicles arriving or departing in the path of waiting customers.

The area needs to be widened, with existing shops, tourist information, news-stand and buffet relocated nearby.

If these are across a road, access should be provided by lit and patrolled underpasses, with a double underpass from the interchange through to North Railway Station.

Work to improve the area should be carried out at different times and on different sections of the bus station, including on Sundays, to minimise inconvenience for operators and customers alike.

Once re-opened, the new interchange should be closed at night. Everyone would benefit from these improvements - and I have only scratched the surface.

Hopefully, the powers-that-be will see this letter - and others like it - and solve the Talbot Road bus station problem once and for all.
