THE Youth Hostel Association want to open a hostel in Lancaster.
The association approached Lancaster City Council months ago to ask if there were any sites suitable for a hostel.
One potential site the council are considering offering the YHA is the old toll booth Bridge End House at Skerton Bridge. The grade two listed building is in the middle of an area that could be drastically redeveloped as a leisure area.
Terry Stoddart of the YHA commented: "We are interested in opening somewhere in Lancaster although it is not one of our top priorities. Basically we contacted the council and are still awaiting a response."
A council spokesman said: "We will be contacting the YHA in the next few weeks. We are still considering the suitability of the Bridge End House and other locations."
