MORECAMBE'S MP Geraldine Smith is to meet with the Dukes to discuss how the Lancaster-based theatre company can strengthen its profile in the resort.
Following a highly successful promenade season, the Dukes are hoping to increase their appeal further afield. One subject up for discussion is the possibility of staging a special production in the resort next year. The Lancaster-based repertory theatre company have pioneered promenade plays at Williamson Park and the MP believes the stunning backdrop of Morecambe Bay could prove equally successful.
Geraldine said: "It would be great to have productions in Morecambe. The Dukes were the first to have plays in the park, why not be the first to have plays on the sands? I'm looking forward to the meeting."
Dukes marketing manager, Alexandra Johnson, said: "Half our audiences are based in the Morecambe area and we are always looking to broaden our appeal.
"We've got the forthcoming season scheduled but next year we could look at the possibility of a special event in Morecambe."
