HEARTLESS thieves left a local mum distraught at the weekend when they stole flowers and pots from the gravesite of her daughter and brother.
Pam Haydon, from Gilbert Road in Whiston, and her mum Gill Mills, were visiting the grave of Pam's three year old daughter Ashley and her own brother David Wallace, who was just eight when he died, at Prescot Cemetery on Saturday.
Pam, who now has two other children, said: "I hadn't been to the grave for about a fortnight. But some terracotta pots with plants in and two miniature conifer trees were stolen. Fortunately, they hadn't damaged the grave itself but it is still really upsetting. The grave actually has photographs of David and Ashley on it so they knew they were stealing from a child's grave.
"It is four years this year since Ashley died but this has brought it all back and I just hope whoever did this feels guilty about it."
IF anyone has information about the whereabouts of the pots, contact Rachel Herrity at St Helens Star on 01744 611861. All calls will be treated with confidence.
