CORONATION Street cameras were in Prestwich this week for the soap wedding of the year - and they'll be back next week to film a funeral.
Granada TV bosses and officials at Prestwich Parish Church were remaining tight-lipped, but word on the street had it that Jack Duckworth's funeral was set to be filmed soon.
TV crews descended on St Mary's on Tuesday for the filming of the wedding. The historic church is a favourite with the show's producers - countless Street weddings, funerals and christenings have been held there.
In fact, the Rector of Prestwich, the Rev Frank Bibby, has jokingly dubbed it "Weatherfield Parish Church". Ashley and Maxine - actors Steven Arnold and Tracy Shaw (pictured) - were joined by a whole host of the soap's stars at the filming. But Prestwich residents who contacted the Bury Times claimed that the next ceremony to be filmed at St Mary's would be a far more sombre occasion - the funeral of the much-loved character Jack Duckworth, played by Bill Tarmey.
Jack's heart by-pass operation and the return of "bad penny" son Terry have been major storylines for some weeks, but how the story ends up is being kept a closely-guarded secret by TV bosses.
The Bury Times has agreed to keep the date of filming secret to stop the church being overrun with fans and paparazzi as the secret storyline unfolds.
