AT A sunny and extremely well organised Grange Bowling Club, Clayton-le-Moors, the inter-team knockout finals day could not have been held in more perfect conditions.

Globe A ended the day as holders of the trophy having defeated a very much improved Hollands side who cruised through the semi-final defeating Whalley B after a crushing 21-1 win by D Haworth wiped out the Third Division team's handicap.

Rushton St B made Globe work hard for their final place, but a 21-11 in by M Aspin took the pressure off as only nine points separated the teams up to the final three games.

In the leagues, Globe A defeated Hollands 9-1 in what was to be a warm-up game for the weekend and stretch their lead as Burnley Road D had no game and Globe B lost at Rushton Street.

Coppice lost a little ground with their 5-5 away draw at College in Division Two and Come and Welcome surge ahead in Division Three with a very closely packed threesome looking for number two spot.

Division Four leaders Immanuel were also held to a 5-5 draw with new second spot team Salesbury Red.
