A WAITRESS escaped a blaze that gutted a restaurant kitchen and set the roof alight. The breakfast-time fire was at the Little Chef at Rising Bridge, but plucky Deborah Milner, of Carr Hall Street, Haslingden, recovered to help contain the blaze before firemen arrived. Deborah was working near to the stoves when overheating fat burst into flames. No-one was hurt.
