ENFIELD skipper Andrew Barker has put himself in with a chance of beating the club's amateur batting record - held by brother Gary - after another prolific weekend when he scored 171 runs without being dismissed.
Barker's blitz began in a one-sided win over Accrington when he blasted a dozen boundaries in his unbeaten 81.
Accrington were dismissed for 144, Mus Ahmed (24) top scoring. Liam Jackson had a good all-round day with three victims to go with an unbeaten 40 when Enfield replied but Barker was the star.
Although they lost Russ Edmonds early, Barker and Jackson shared an unbroken stand of 126 for the second wicket to steer their side home with half a dozen overs to spare.
The batting record stands at 897 and man-in-form Barker has 737 runs to his name.
East Lancs cruised to a comfortable victory over Todmorden after being left to chase a modest target of 139.
Professional Brendan Nash hit five fours and two sixes in his 57 but it was generally a dour Todmorden innings as they struggled against the twin-pronged attack of Nas Iqbal and professional Claude Henderson, who took four of the five wickets to fall.
Solid batting right through the top of the order saw East Lancs home, Andy Clague (24) and Phil Bolton (36) laying the foundations by putting on 53 for the opening partnership.
Skipper Phil Mercer (43) then took over with the result never in doubt.
Philip Sykes (47 not out) steered Church to a last-over win against his former team Rishton at the West End.
Struggling Rishton, who had their record-breaking amateur batsman Craig Smith coming out of retirement for the day, had put up a decent target thanks largely to skipper John Seedle's 55.
With Andrew Bartley (39) and Neil Wells (25 not out) making good contributions, they reached 182-5. But Alec Holt (52) gave Church a solid foundation and a stand of 65 for the fifth wicket was crucial. They clinched victory with five balls to spare, Sykes denying his old club for the second successive weekend.
Haslingden gained revenge for their defeat at the hands of neighbours Rawtenstall with a comfortable victory at Bacup Road.
Charlie Lord hit 86 putting on 139 with Michael Ingham (52) for the fifth wicket as they recovered from 41-4 to eventually finish on 198-9.
It was a total that always looked out of reach for Rawtenstall. Sub-professional Billy Stelling top scored with 23 as they were bowled out for 102.
Substitute professional Mike Watkinson inspired Burnley to victory over local rivals Lowerhouse with four wickets and 75 runs.
Lowerhouse were dismissed for 156 with Watkinson (4-39) and young James Anderson (4-39) the bowling heroes. Chris Bleazard (71) top scored for Lowerhouse. Watkinson was the mainstay of Burnley's reply before falling to Jez Hope. But his team got home with three wickets to spare. Matt Hope was the most successful Lowerhouse bowler with 3-35.
Rawtenstall clinched the second XI title with victory over Bacup at Lanehead yesterday.
